Where the data comes from

This version uses the ShelterRadar project dataset. Entries retain the sources and organisations listed in those records. Their accuracy, currency and certifications have not been independently reverified.

• Capacity is recorded capacity, not available spaces.
• “No information” means no confirmed data is available.
• “Historic / reserve” reflects the record’s classification.

Maps, location and privacy

We request location only when you choose to use it. It is sent to search to order results by straight-line distance and is not stored by the application. Maps load from OpenStreetMap; directions open Google Maps. Both services receive requests required to display their maps.

Saved shelters and checklist progress are kept only in your browser’s local storage.
